DESCRIPTION:This year\, Bilquist Elementary is organizing a Ruby Bridges Wa
 lk to School Day celebration on November 18th. The event honors the legacy
  of civil rights icon Ruby Bridges\, who integrated her all-white school i
 n 1960. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day encourages young people to stand u
 p to racism and bullying and make positive changes in their own community.
  It also builds upon Walk and Roll to School Day\, an annual event celebra
 ted each October in Safe Routes to School programs. Ruby Bridges Walk to S
 chool Day will give students another chance to gather with their peers and
  discuss issues that matter to them.  We are always looking for people wh
 o want to join our walking group at the Safeway on Webster and walk to Bil
 quist. It is also helpful to have volunteers at the building who can help 
 guide students the correct way around the building if they are doing a lap
 . Please sign up if you're interested in participating in this first annua
 l event supporting Bilquist Elementary School!
